The thinking behind the concierge
Caring was never the hard part.
Most people don’t drift from the people they love on purpose. They mean to call. They mean to mark the day. Then life moves, the weeks fill up, and the moment quietly passes.
We know, because it kept happening to us.
We’re Karly and Johannes, a couple, and the first two people Kaiva was ever built for. Between us, the people we love are scattered all over. Karly’s family stretches across the US and Canada and back to her roots in Jamaica, with friends in just about every place in between. Johannes’s family and oldest friends are mostly still in Germany, with a few others around the States. Distance is just a fact of our lives.
Every so often a card would show up in the mail. From an aunt, a cousin, an old friend. It would make our whole week. We’d feel lucky and loved, and we’d tell each other we should do this more. We should send one back. Then life would move again, and the moment would slip by. Not because we didn’t care. We cared a lot. We just kept losing to how busy everything gets.
We wanted the people we don’t see often enough to know, without a doubt, that they matter to us. We went looking for something that would help us show up consistently, and we couldn’t find anything that felt right. So we built it for ourselves. Kaiva is what we use to make sure the people who shaped us still feel thought of, wherever they are.
It worked for us. We think it can do the same for anyone who means well but has a calendar that never lets up.
A quiet helper, never a nag.
We built Kaiva to stay in the background. No reminders to chase, nothing to gamify, no nudges to make you feel guilty. You tell it who matters and which moments are worth marking, and it quietly takes care of the rest. A real card, sent at the right time, on your behalf. You stay the person who showed up.
Your relationships are yours.
The people you add, and their addresses, are there for one reason. So we can show up for them on your behalf. We don’t sell your data, we don’t share your contacts, and we’ll never use the people you love to advertise to you. Read our Privacy Policy.
If something’s wrong on our end, we make it right.
If a card comes out misprinted or damaged, gets lost on the way, or something goes wrong in production on our side, that one’s on us. We’ll sort it out with a free reprint, your moment back, or a refund for that card. Just reach out within 30 days. Read the full Refund Policy.
Wherever the people who matter are, we’d love to help you keep showing up for them.
